Basics:

Jaynes parents were forced to sell the family farm when he was 15. He is a strong and studious young man. He was given the 1 year old horse that he named "Blueskin" that is his constant companion.

He was given an inheritance and a magic sword that has been passed down for generations. It's said that the sword was to a great conqueror of old. He has been pretty thrifty with his money but has been living off it for 2 years so it is starting to run out.

He traveled to the dark sun university so he could learn something. He chose to enter a 2 year agricultural program that would help him start a new farm and (hopefully) family.

He is a firm believer that you should try anything at least once

Questions:

You want to pick a flavor-horse (like specific breed or w/e?) for your people?  They are so isolated they wouldn't have much variety, probably only 1 breed or maybe like 2 IF they have both a horse and pony those would be the only non-imported options.
(i also left it open if you wanted to pick the favorite booze of your people.  again poor soil leaves limited types of fauna so there would definitely be like 1 common type of booze, likely one all the locals love and foreigners...)
if you don't want to mess with it I'm fine picking stuff, but as part of group world build this is the type of thing you can pick for your whole people if you like

obv we need to discuss your sword.  any particular abilities you were hoping for?

We need a more concrete mechanical application for your Flaw.  nearly tripling your xp with "something that'll just impact roleplay" is too vague.  For example, if it was mechanically similar to an Obsession or Phobia, then _______ here would be the scenario that would force some sort of roll where your inferior nature would take over in a negative way.  that sounds like the type you are going for here.  maybe leaning into your "try anything once" blurb or maybe leaning into a more traditional version of curiosity.  TLDR: What is your trigger scenario?

Disambiguation Needed:
BAB
Style Big Swing
Stance: Dodge
and you own a shield in your inventory
WP Bow
Mounted Archery

These don't play well with each other as they are listed.  Which might be fine if you are alternating between them, but hence clarification sought, since also none of them are standardized.

From the Standard Skill list Melee Weapons & Archery (presumably what you are intending by BAB & WP Bow) so all good with that so far
Style Big Swing - if you are using the old terminology "fighting style," then BAB and WP Bow are also "fighting styles".  No penalty needed since you are just switching between whichever one you are using at any given time.  Things with penalties are more likely to be Stances historically, so i'm not sure what your intent is here.  Not sure what you are trying to alternate between and what you think should stack
Stance: Dodge - this has never existed as just a flat out thing, although various Stances have been close.  Shield Stance (requires shield) or Fencing Stance (requires weapon suitable to fencing posture) are both existing Stances that do provide a bonus to Avoid.  Both could make sense for your dude but again it is unclear your intent.
 - To further confuse there are also two official "Dodge" listings that Are considered standardized, although neither is a stance:
Dodge (stacking, +Av capPerc) from the Standard Skill list - which could be repurposed to a different attribute than Perc with appropriate flavor
AndDodge (stacking, +half Ranks rounded down) for the rarely used but always there HalfRank line of achieving stack with everything bonuses
Mounted Archery - the only thing similar both in this game (another stance) or dnd (Mounted Archery feat), the goal was to counteract/reduce penalties for shooting while riding (i.e. movement penalties).  Verifying that you are aware that, in a bubble, just swinging up into the saddle doesn't instantly grant you a stacking +1 to hit

The Horse would be an Arabian breed. It's a more spirited horse breed, lighter than some others but quick and smart.

The curious would be more like a compulsion. I need to know what is in the box. A mixture of naive, gullible, and FOMO.

Mounted Archery, WP, and BAB would all be used for different weapons or fighting situations. If BAB will cover all of them I'll get rid of the extras.

Dodge Stance capped by STR. Big Swing should be a stance (essentially a variation on reckless trade off of to hit for additional 1dr dmg). I would switch between the 2.

2 hand optional Bastard sword with a wider blade. I would like for it to give bonuses to DMG and/ or to hit. If it can be a rune type sword (spirit could just be cursed to be in the sword of that works better) with the soul of a past conqueror/warlord ancestor. I imagine it giving off a green glow when in use. Silver with an emerald pomel.

I'm imagining fighting on horse back and having ride cap the charge and trample but commanding the horse would replace my move action.

- this makes sense and would work

If BAB will cover all of them I'll get rid of the extras.
- it would not

Rune Sword of warlord ancestor is fine, i would prefer to leave his personality and such to you but can design if needed.  Rune Sword would do an extra die of base damage.  So 2d10 1-H and 3d10 2-H if its a bastard sword (at some point you called it a longsword instead, which would be d8's).  Glowing is fine but will need clarified.  Is it glowing enough to illuminate an area like a torch?  or just mildly?  is it always glowing when drawn?  or is it activated or triggered somehow?

Dodge capped by STR
- if you are going with the capped model then it doesn't need to be a stance, and now everything just plays nice together b/c Big Swing is your only Stance.

Rest is all good as clarified

I'm not sure if I have horse stats around for this system or not... but I'll come up with something there.

horse stats posted

i'm leaning the Racing horse due to pedigree but Riding could also be a basic default for the style.

Racing horse

The sword would be a light glow while swinging the sword.

Cyrus Rex the conqueror, First of his name, uniter of peoples. He is a boisterous and gruff man who placed his soul into a sword so he could guide future generations to greatness. Upon Cyrus's passing, the family gradually lost power and influence. Cyrus was often left in the scabbard for decades at a time until he stopped talking with the family all together.

He didn't speak with Jayne until he had to fight his way to the University. The battle sparked to life Cyrus who began to mentor the young Jayne. He helped him develope his own way of fighting and gave him his some pointers about how large battles are commanded. Cyrus was a great teacher and Jayne was an excellent student.

Rune swords link themselves to owner.  Can sense each other's location within a two mile radius.  +1 to Jayne's Sanity.

Alignment locked.  Jayne and Cyrus need to have similar alignments on one axis (both good, both lawful, both selfish, etc).  I don't care what alignment system you use to describe this side of the bond, but I will need something to go on.  If someone were to try to steal Cyrus, these subtleties will determine how fucked they are 😀  Specifics preferred for both of you but generalities accepted.

Also, I'm imagining the people do floating farm plots like... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinampa ... So they would have a larger than just swamp vegetables. Favorite crop/s would still be rice and sugar cane. Vodka for the booze with a healthy amount of moonshine available.

For my horse, how will leveling/improving him up go? Will he be gaining his own XP or will I be investing my own XP? For instance, if I want to give it iron will to raise it's vitality is it cool to spend my own XP or is it going to be capped by something. Raising attributes?

Animals dont get xp or attribute bumps they are too static for that.

you can spend your xp to train it for statistic/skill bonuses though just like you would your own

@jaquin

Ive thought often on animal companions, and how would you feel about if # of skill point spent on a single animal = whatever the threshold is for attribute ups, in this case 50, representation the amount kf care and dedication/ continually training very well could make this horse have 1 higher str then the average of its kind

do u carry your sword on your back and/or leave it on the horse typically?  seems too big for hip yes?

do you typically ride your horse whenever possible, or rest him (packs aside) when it is convenient to do so?  no one else started mounted if that impacts your view

My sword is on my back most of the time. When traveling I would ride but I'm the towns and cities I would have him walk unencumbered.
